Kartik Vira

Hello! I am an incoming Research Economist in the Education and Skills group at the Institute for Fiscal Studies in London, where I will begin work in October 2026. My primary strand of research focuses on the causes and consequences of barriers to access to higher education, particularly in the UK.

I received my PhD in Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2026. Prior to my PhD, I worked as a Predoctoral Fellow at Harvard University and the National Bureau of Economic Research. I graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge in 2018 with a BA in Economics, with first-class honours.
