Kartik Vira

Hello! I am a Research Economist in the Education and Skills group at the Institute for Fiscal Studies in London. My primary strand of research focuses on the causes and consequences of barriers to access to higher education, particularly in the UK.

I received my PhD in Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2026. Prior to my PhD, I worked as a Predoctoral Fellow at Harvard University and the National Bureau of Economic Research. I graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge in 2018 with a BA in Economics, with first-class honours.
